The house at Three of Earth farm
When I opened an Airbnb in the basement suite where I lived while caring for my mother, I named this property Three of Earth Farm. Three is a mystical, magical number, as is this piece of earth. In the Tarot, it represents the resolution of the one and the two. Something begins with the ace: the purchase of this property in 1960. It is tested in the two: the death of my father in 1995, and the will to keep it up by my mother. It is manifested in the three: the next generation accepting, for now, the mantle.
I am a caregiver survivor. Now I write about living in my family home, about life as a member of the oldest generation, about my own aging. I write about my mother and caregiving in retrospect.
You can find an archive of blog posts that predate this new website, as well as my ongoing hiking adventures, on my other website, Writing Down the Story.
And if you would like to check out the Airbnb you can find me here: airbnb.com/h/3ofearthfarm. It’s a perfect retreat from the stresses of the world, and I will take good care of you.
